Knowing just when it’s time to call your doctor can sometimes be difficult to tell — especially when it’s your first baby.

As if the pains of the contractions aren’t enough to distract you, there are a bunch of other things you need to pay attention to.

First, there are the signs that your body is preparing for labor.

Then, there are different signs that indicate you’re about to have your baby and it’s time to call your doctor.

Those are:

#1  If you’re having vaginal bleeding, then you definitely need to call your doctor.

#2 If you’re having contractions that are 5 to 10 minutes apart.

#3  If you cannot walk while you’re having contractions.

#4  If your water breaks — especially if the fluid is stained a greenish brown or colored dark.

#5  If, for some reason, you think you or your baby’s well-being is in danger.

Here are some danger signs in labor, including fetal danger signs and maternal danger signs.

My favorite things to write about are topics that have to do with pregnancy, weddings, saving money, living green, and life with dogs. When I'm not writing, I love to spend time with my husband, read, create 3D artwork and Native American beadwork.
