People are always asking about my baby’s necklace.

They’re usually surprised when I tell them it is actually more than a necklace — it’s a Baltic Amber necklace which helps reduce the growing pains for my baby.

My sister-in-law has 4 kids, and she recommended I put this Amber necklace on my Babylist shower registry.

She used it and it worked well on all 4 of her babies during the teething and drooling stage!

NOTE: Although it is a teething necklace, the baltic amber necklace is actually not for the baby to chew on.

Our Experience

Many parents swear by the Amber necklaces and as a first time mom, not knowing what to expect, I think it works.

At 8 months old, my baby is cutting teeth — 5 so far with another one pushing through.

It appears the Amber necklace is working because he teethes with very little fussing, and he has never once had a fever.

Our little guy started wearing his Amber necklace at a young age. They say that babies should wear it from around 4 weeks of age through toddlerhood.

How A Baltic Amber Teething Necklace Works

The Baltic Amber in the necklace is derived from a fossilized resin produced by ancient forests in the Baltic region in Northern Europe.

Genuine Amber necklaces release microscopic amounts of oil — which is then absorbed into the baby’s skin and bloodstream as it is worn and warmed by the body.

By having the baby wear the necklace everyday it provides therapeutic relief — because Baltic Amber contains succinic acid (or succinate) which has anti-fever and anti-inflammatory properties.

Genuine Amber necklaces are supposed to help reduce the common symptoms related to teething including:

  • red cheeks
  • fever
  • swollen gums
  • drool
  • even diaper rash

According to the Baltic Essentials website:

All Natural 100% SAFE for Baby! Teething Pain, Fever, Red Cheeks, Drool GONE in 30 Minutes! Arthritis Pain, Carpal Tunnel, Migraine, Sciatica – Reduce Pain Naturally!

Before You Try A Baltic Amber Teething Necklace

There are a few things you should know before you use a Baltic Amber necklace:

Make sure that your baby’s Amber teething necklace is authentic so your baby will receiving the full benefits of wearing it.

TIP: To see if an Amber necklace is genuine, place it in salt water. Amber necklaces will float. Fake amber beads, glass beads, and plastic amber colored beads will sink.

The Amber teething necklace should always be removed during naps, nighttime sleeping, and anytime your baby is unsupervised. (Sadly, there have been reported deaths involving the necklace.)

The necklace has a screw clamp — so it’s easy to remove (as seen in my video below).

The Baltic Amber teething necklace comes with a handy little canvas pouch — to keep it clean and safe when baby is not wearing it.

The Baltic Amber necklace can be cleaned with hot water. Then, simply pat it dry with a soft cloth.

Here’s a short video I put together of my 8-month-old baby wearing the Baltic Amber teething necklace, plus a little more detail of the points I’ve highlighted above:
